Online Music Lessons for Chester County Students

You can take lessons at Downingtown Music Academy from your own living room. Online lessons are live, one-on-one time with a teacher, at the same price as in-person lessons. They're open to anyone who wants them, whether you're across town or you just need a lesson to fit a busy week.

How Online Lessons Work

We teach online through Rock Out Loud. You log in at your lesson time and meet with your teacher live, just like an in-person lesson. Between lessons, your student can use Practice Space, our app for tracking progress and finding practice resources.

When Families Choose Online Lessons

  • When the weather is bad and nobody wants to drive
  • When a student is sick but still up for a lesson
  • On busy days when travel just won't fit
  • When you'd rather learn from home, all the time

You can mix online and in-person lessons. Ask your teacher about switching for a week when you need to.

Same Price, Same Teachers

Online lessons cost exactly what in-person lessons cost. Weekly 30-minute lessons start at $170 a month. See our tuition page for every option. Students get the same teachers online as in person.

What You Need

  • A computer, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone
  • A steady internet connection
  • Your instrument, or for voice students, a quiet space to sing
  • A comfortable spot where your student can sit or stand and focus

If you'd like help getting your setup right, ask us before your first lesson. We are happy to help you set up. Our post on setting up an at-home studio for virtual music lessons has tips too.

Online or In Person?

Both work well, and you can mix them. Online lessons are convenient. In-person lessons let your teacher hear and see everything in the room and give your student a place to practice with a piano or drum set. For a longer comparison, read our post on online vs. in-person music lessons.
