Adult Voice Lessons in Downingtown, PA
Singing is one of the most personal things you can learn, and one of the most rewarding. At Downingtown Music Academy, adults take voice lessons with Rosalind Hayes to build confidence, get comfortable with their voice and enjoy singing for its own sake.
You Can Learn to Sing at Any Age
If you think you can't sing, you're in good company. Many adults tell us they're nervous about their voice or tone-deaf. Most people can learn to match pitch and sing with confidence, and the right teacher makes the difference. Our blog has posts for you: I can't sing, I'm tone deaf and I hate my singing voice.

What Adults Work On
- Pitch: ear training and matching pitch if you struggle to sing in tune
- Breath and posture: the foundation of a healthy, comfortable voice
- Range and tone: expanding what your voice can do
- Songs and style: choosing music you love, in any style
- Confidence: performing for yourself, your family or a group
What Happens in a Lesson
Lessons start with a warm-up, then work on a song or a skill. Your teacher listens, gives you feedback and shows you what to do at home. Students receive recorded warm-ups and lessons for practice at home, and all lessons are recorded to help you get familiar with your own voice.
Healthy Singing
We teach vocal health and technique that keeps your voice comfortable, including how your voice works and how to use it without strain. See our posts on keeping your singing voice healthy and when your voice isn't healthy.
Singing With Others, If You Want To
Many adults want to sing in a choir, at church or with friends. Your teacher can help you prepare, including for choir auditions. Performing is optional. See audition prep.
Lessons That Fit Your Schedule
Many of our adult students take afternoon or evening lessons. Online lessons are also available at the same price. For more time with your teacher, 60-minute lessons are an option.
